A Touch of Devotion
The work is built on two levels of movement: main verses run in lines across the centre, while further text moves around the edge of a circle enclosing it like calligraphic orbits. The poem no longer sits as a single block, but becomes a centre surrounded by a circular movement of text.
Occasion
The centenary of the poet Sultan Al Owais, Cultural and Scientific Association, Dubai, 2025.
Illumination
The calligraphy is by Mahmood Al Abadi. The surrounding illumination and gilding were executed by another party, commissioned by the sponsor after the work was delivered.
