Noor Bank
Seventeen handmade works exploring the letter at a large scale, from first experiment to installation.
The project comprises 17 works; 9 are shown here · 19 images
The project started from the single letter and its potential to build a large composition. Work focused on the word "Noor" and its letters, testing movement, colour and the direction of the ink stroke, leading to works some of which exceed three metres in length.
The scale required developing a tool that could carry the amount of ink needed for the large strokes. Execution remained by hand throughout, and the preserved drafts document the research that preceded the final works.
The artist's role
Research and experimentation, development of execution tools, and design and hand execution of the works.
